🚡 Aerial Tramway

An Aerial Tramway, most commonly seen at ski resorts, for transport between locations on a mountain. Can also be used as a tourist attraction, or as a form of public transport. In 2018 this emoji was the focus of a grassroots campaign on Twitter (now X) where users of the platform began using this emoji more frequently. This was to update the least-used emoji on emojitracker.com (as tracked by the @leastUsedEmoji Twitter bot) from the Aerial Tramway to another emoji. In May 2025 this emoji was also used within YouTube comments to signify laughter or approval or to create confusion for people not in the know. This was an emulation of what occurred with the 🪑 Chair emoji in 2021, which you can learn about here.
